Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Master Tempo ("we", "us") handles information in the Stepwave iOS app ("the app"). We built Stepwave to be private by default: you don't need an account, and most of what the app stores never leaves your device.
The short version
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we serve only non-personalized ads to free users.
- Your presets and session history are stored on your device (and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud).
- We don't ask for your name or email to use the app.
Information the app handles
Data you create in the app
Presets, pre-countdown steps, session results, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage. If you turn on iCloud sync, this data is synced through your own private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. We cannot access your iCloud data.
Advertising (free tier)
Free users see ads served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect device and usage information such as a device identifier, coarse location derived from IP address, and ad interaction data. Stepwave does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not authorize tracking, so ads are served on a non-personalized basis. You can review Google's practices in the Google Privacy & Terms. Upgrading to Stepwave Pro or buying Remove Ads disables ads entirely.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the Remove Ads purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive your purchase and entitlement status from Apple so we can unlock features and restore purchases. We never receive or store your payment card details.
Apple Health (optional)
If you choose to export a completed session, Stepwave writes the workout duration to Apple Health after you grant permission. We only write the data you ask us to; we do not read your health records, and this data is not sent to us or any third party.
Microphone & Speech (optional)
If you enable "voice stop," Stepwave uses the microphone and Apple's speech recognition to listen for the command while the stopwatch is running. Audio is processed to detect the command and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to us.
Diagnostics
If you have enabled sharing with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized crash and performance data. This cannot be used to identify you.
How we use information
We use the limited information above only to operate the app: to run timers, save and sync your presets and history, deliver and measure ads to free users, process and restore purchases, and fix crashes. We do not build advertising or marketing profiles about you.
Sharing
We do not sell your data and do not share it for cross-app advertising. Information is shared only with the service providers that make the app work — Apple (storage, purchases, health, speech) and Google AdMob (ads for free users) — and only as described above, or where required by law.
Your choices & rights
- Remove ads: subscribe to Stepwave Pro or buy Remove Ads.
- Permissions: revoke Microphone, Speech Recognition, or Health access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Reset ad identifier: in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising.
- Delete your data: deleting the app removes locally stored data; you can also delete its iCloud data from Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
- Access/erasure requests (GDPR/CCPA): because we don't hold an account-linked profile about you, most data is under your direct control. For any request, contact us below.
Children
Stepwave is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Data retention & security
App data lives on your device and your iCloud for as long as you keep it. We protect the limited data we handle using industry-standard safeguards and the security of Apple's and Google's platforms. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International users
The app is available globally. Service providers (Apple, Google) may process data in countries other than yours under their own safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the "Effective" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or on this page.
